The Ortega HYDRA-ZS Double Neck Tenor Ukulele is a fantastic instrument to give your music a lift. One side is an 8-string ukulele for that lush, chimey sound, and the other side is a standard 4-string tenor ukulele. This double neck idea isn’t of mere novelty or gimmick; as part of Ortega’s Custom Built series, this is a pro-spec instrument with high-grade tonewoods, topnotch craftsmanship, and premium components. The HYDRA-ZS has an all-Ziricote body, which gives the instrument its crisp tone, as well as rich harmonic overtones; great when you want an instrument that cuts through the mix. Complementing the Ziricote body are a Mahogany neck and Maple fretboard and bridge. All these great tonewoods contribute the instrument’s superb sound and amazing looks. For playing comfort, the body has a Walnut armrest to provide a natural angle for your forearm to rest on. Custom-built electronics also effectively translate the acoustic sound when plugged to the amp or PA, and includes a 3-way selector so you can choose to send out either the 8-string side or the 4-string side, or even both together.
